Itinerary
Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Mawlinnong, Tezpur, Bhalukpong, Dirang, Tawang and Bomdila
Arrive at Guwahati airport, received and transferred to Shillong (110km) – known as Scotland of the east is a popular hill station of north east India. En-route visit Umium lake (Barapani lake) – largest manmade lake of the state Meghalaya. Evening free at leisure.
Overnight at Shillong.
After breakfast, will go for a day long excursion to Cherrapunjee (65km) – the wettest place in the world. At Cherrapunjee enjoy the numerous waterfalls like Nohkalikai falls, Mawsmai falls, Dainthelen Falls and Mawsmai cave. On way to Cherrapunjee will visit Elephant falls and Shillong Peak – to have a bird eye view of the Shillong city. Evening drive back to Shillong and stay overnight.
Today after breakfast, explore Mawlynnong (90km) – claimed to be the cleanest village of Asia. Mawlynnong offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another small rock. Evening drive back to Shillong and visit Police bazaar. Overnight stay at Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Bhalukpong (250km) – a border town of Assam and Arunachal. En-route visit Historical Tezpur town, at Tezpur visit Mahabhairava mandir, Chitralekha Uddyan, Agnigarh and Ganesh ghat. Arrive Bhalukpong in the evening and stay overnight at Bhalukpong/Tezpur.
Drive to Dirang (140km) – En-route visit Tipi Orchidarium a place over 500 orchids, on display there are some rare species of orchid. Arunachal has largest range of orchids in the country then take a break at Nag Temple. On reaching at Dirang visit – Dirang Dzong, Sangty valley, Kalchakra monastery.
Overnight at Dirang.
After breakfast, proceed to Tawang (140km) – the land of Monpa Tribes and major centre of the Mahayana Buddhists. On the way to Tawang lies the world’s second highest pass – Se la Pass (13700ft) which run through a small ridge & along a lake called Se la Lake. And visit Jaswantgarh - a memorial to the brave soldier who single handedly tried to hold of approaching Chinese during the 1962 Chinese aggression. On arrival at Tawang check in to hotel and stay overnight.
Tawang local sightseeing – visit Tawang monastery, War memorial, Bhramadungchung ani gompa and in the evening enjoy the shopping at local market. Overnight at Tawang.
This day will take return journey towards Bomdila (180km). While coming from Tawang will visit Urgelling monastery – birth place of 6th Dalai Lama, Narunang waterfall at Jang. En-route at Dirang will visit Kiwi garden then will continue the drive to Bomdila. Overnight stay at Bomdila.
Today will take the return journey towards Guwahati (345km). Arrival Guwahati in the evening and rest of the evening free at leisure and stay overnight Guwahati.
Guwahati local sightseeing will star with the visit to famous Kamakhya mandir, then visit Umananda mandir – middle of the river Brahmaputra river, Navagraha mandir – temple of nine planate and Assam state museum, Assam state zoo and Sankardeva Kalakshetra – centre for art and culture. In the evening you can enjoy the sunset cruise on the river Brahmaputra. Overnight at Guwahati.
After the breakfast in the hotel drive to Guwahati airport to board the flight for your onward destination. The tour concludes here.
