Phuentsholing to Paro – Bhutan Tour

Itinerary

Day 01 :
NJP-Phuentsholing

On arrival at N.J.P RAILWAY. Station / IXB Bagdogra airport you will be received by our Professional representative, who will be waiting outside for a traditional well come and proceed for Phuentsholing (980 ft./142 km/3 hours), through the lush green as well as most beautiful Tea garden in Duars. On arrival at Phuentsholing, The most rapidly growing town in Bhutan checks in at your hotel.

O/N at Phuentsholing.

Day 02 :
Phuentsholing-Thimphu (approx. 176kms/6hrs)

After completion of immigration process proceeds to Thimphu. On a short drive visit Kharbandi Gompa to get a breathtaking view of Phuentsholing also the Indian plains. Being the nature loving and friendly with the Guest we stop our journey on the way time to time to see & feel the Bhutan Himalayan scenery. We will take a lunch break and again start our journey. We will reach the highest point of about 2800m/9,185ft. Before reaching Thimphu. On arrival at Thimphu check in at hotel & you may visit for one or two sight seen as per the time availability.

Day 03 :
Thimphu

After breakfast you will start your day with the visit to:

  • Kings Memorial Chorten: This is continuously circumambulated by the faithful, murmuring mantras and spinning their prayer wheels.
  • Buddha Point: One of the biggest Buddha in the world. It was constructed through donations from devotees all around the world.
  • Painting school: It’s a non profitable organization established by government to encourage the youth into the unique arts and crafts. (Saturday open till 12 noon and Sunday close)
  • Folk Heritage Museum: It is one of the oldest traditional houses. This house has been around 150 years old. The Folk Heritage Museum with a three storied, 19th century traditional house provides you a glimpse of the Bhutanese lifestyle, and artifacts from the rural households.
  • National Textile Museum: National Textile Museum which was opened in June 2001 is worth a leisurely visit to get to know the living of national art of weaving.(Sunday close)
  • National zoo: National zoo is specially preserving the national animal of Bhutan called Takin.
  • BBS Tower: BBS tower is a view point of the Thimpu city.

Day 04 :
Thimphu-Punakha (approx.77kms/3hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochu-La-Pass (10,170 ft). Here we can view and admire the Chorten, Mani wall, and prayer flags which decorates the highest point on the road.

We will have lunch on the way. After that we will visit to Chimi Lhakhang (open till 5 pm) which is a short hike. Chimi Lakhang Temples lies in the fertile Lobesa village of Punakha Valley. The temple is dedicated to the divine madman-Saint Drukpa Kuenley and the temple is also known as the Temple of Fertility. After that we will visit to Punakha Dzong (open till 5 pm). It is situated near two rivers-- the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River.) Asia has a rich tradition of river personification. Punakha Dzong is one of the largest Dzongs in Bhutan. Take the suspension bridge to arrive at the Dzong. Punakha Dzong was initially called Druk Pungthang or Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness), for many years until the second king of Bhutan assumed power. Punakha Dzong happened to be the seat of the Government for a long time. Check in hotel & O/N at Punakha.

Day 05 :
Punakha-Paro (approx. 143km/5hrs)

Early morning after breakfast drive to Paro. On arrival check in at hotel. Lunch will be in hotel and after lunch free for leisure. At the evening time visits to paro city.

Day 06 :
Paro

After an early breakfast you will proceed for an excursion to the famous place called Taktshang Monastery or Tiger Nest (5hrs to 6 hrs hike {up and down}).

The people who will not able to visit Tiger Nest we have some other places to be visit:

  • Kyichu Lhakhang :( opens till 5 pm) It was built sometimes in mid 7th century by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. It is believed to be one of the 108 temples built to subdue a demoness residing in the Himalayas. It is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.
  • Drukgyel dzong: Drukgyal Dzong was one of the four principal Dra Dzongs (defense fortress). Accounts differ on the founder of Drukgyal Dzong. It is said to have been caused by the fire when a butter lamp fell in the central tower. Only the ruins of giant walls, charred gigantic wooden posts, beams and watch towers can be seen of what was once an important fortress that repelled several invasions from the north.

Lunch will be at hotel and after lunch visit to:

  • National Museum :( open till 4 pm) housed in the Ta Dzong (watchtower). Here an intriguing collection of artifacts provide a wonderful introduction to the rich culture and heritage of the Kingdom.

Day 07 :
Paro-Phuentsholing (approx.115km.)

After breakfast you will drive to Phuentsholing

Day 08 :
Drop to N.J.P./Bagdogra airport

After Breakfast drive to N.J.P RAILWAY Station / IXB Bagdogra airport for your return journey. Like all good things, your Bhutan tours will come to an end. We will be happy to see you back.
